Oriana Confente is an artist-researcher, writer, and maker-of-things based between Tkaronto / Toronto and Tiohtiá:ke / Montreal.

She explores postnatural ecologies and sustainable practices, with particular interest in more-than-human encounters through alternative photography. When she’s not making a mess at her studio, Oriana is walking, talking, writing, or workshopping.

Oriana’s projects have been exhibited in Canada (Montreal, Toronto, Kingston), Australia, and Portugal, and also published through peer-reviewed journals (Imaginations, photographies) as well as creative platforms (FLAT Journal, Batshit Times). She has attended residencies in New York (SFSIA, Groundworks) and Spain (JOYA: arte + ecología).

Oriana is currently an artist-in-residence at the Art Gallery of Burlington (Ontario) from September 2025-26 with support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Cannonbury Foundation. She will continue her research into sustainable photographies as a PhD student at Concordia in September 2026.
